New Nomads/Sweet Zeros split 7"

From http://www.lamf.biz/djb

DJB66604 - Nomads/Sweet Zeros Coloured 7"

The Nomads just celebrated their 25th Anniversary, and they're still one mean-sounding bunch of mofos.... and still distilling the entire R'N'R experience into one sweet 3 minute blast.

'Aint No King of Rock'nRoll' was the bonus highlight track of their recent 'Nomadic Dementia' CD Compilation, and as it was picked for the album by the Next Big Thing's Lindsay Hutton, you just KNOW it's gotta be good! Supposedly written for the Backyard Babies, the Nomads ended up recording it themselves. I know we're biased, but it's a killer!

As avid followers of everything the Nomads have ever done, we at Devil's Jukebox Towers were ecstatic when they agreed to let us release it on vinyl - only question being what to stick on the flip.........

Enter The Sweet Zeros, a bunch of punkrock'n'roll malcontents from Brighton, England.
Refugees from other bands, The Sweet Zeros play Rock'N'Roll with a Thunders/Ramones/Rezillos bent,
and with more than a healthy nod to the Sonics, Motorhead and the Saints thrown in.
Can't argue with a formula like that, especially with the feisty female vocals providing the belladonna'd icing on the sonic cake.

Numbered edition of 666 copies only, Pink Vinyl 7".

Out now or very soon on MUNSTER RECORDS http://www.munster-records.com/ :

NIGHT TIME/BOSS HOSS (7")
"A homage to the almighty Nomads, the unrivalled Kings of european Garage-Punk for 25 years! This is a limited edition (1000) on hard-stock cardboard and original artwork of their second single, originally released in 1982, with two covers of classic garage-punk anthems: The Sonics "Boss Hog", and The Strangeloves "Night Time". These killer punk hymns might seem "popular culture" today, but 25 years ago NOBODY was doing stuff like this! And whats more... 25 years later these songs sound as fresh, powerful, and sincere as they did back then."

NOMADIC DEMENTIA: THE BEST OF THE FIRST 25 YEARS (DOUBLE LP)
This comprehensive compilation, produced by Lindsay Hutton, celebrates the 25 years' history of the fathers of Swedish revival garage. The double LP features 24 songs showing the band's broad mindedness when assimilating influences, from the best 60s and 70s bands to punk, heavy metal, rockabilly or blues bands. The Nomads have turned into a legend of the Scandinavian rock influencing bands such as Hellacopters, Gluecifer or Turbonegro. Pull out one of the vinyl records and let the party begin!

When I was asked to compile the material for this collection, it seemed like a daunting task. How do you pair down a catalogue like theirs? Well I can tell you that it's not easy. I'm sure that there are some of you out there reading this that reckon that something that isn't included should be. A fair old measure of consideration went into assembling what you have in your mitts. The mission that I chose to accept was to provide succour to those who already know what a great combo this is and also to inspire anybody who never had the pleasure. Like some future sonic archaeologist that wasn't born to work for instance.

In my opinion, The Nomads are one of THE great bands of all time. If you ever got the chance to see them then you know that. The chemistry and the songs come together as one finite entity and the combination is explosive. Here and now in 2006, the guys are at the very top of their game. Not, like some who shall remain nameless, hauling some shadow of their former selves around the planet in the name of a fast buck. Often cited as "Sweden's Garage Kings", take it from me, these Nomad fellas are way up the world rankings. A premier rock'n'roll ensemble in any currency.

So this is how the cookie crumbled. The new song "Ain't No King Of Rock'n'Roll" fits like it's been around all along. Ripping it up like an old friend. The closer "Skolsången" was a controversial choice but I stand by its inclusion. That anthemic punkrockness gets me every time I hear it plus it's in their native tongue and it sounds like they mean it (maaaan!).

It is an honour and a pure pleasure for me to present this fine, fine music. So without further ado, remove one of these platters from its jacket and get that party started. Crank it up as far as you can handle it. This special vinyl edition brings the noise to you the way that nature intended, Cd's are Ok and all that but you cannae beat the real thing…

Release date for NOMADIC DEMENTIA THE BEST OF THE FIRST 25 YEARS set for June 21st

Lindsay Hutton  http://nextbigthing.blogspot.com/  on NOMADIC DEMENTIA THE BEST OF THE FIRST 25 YEARS:
First exposure to these guys is up there with the first time you saw Its a Wonderful Life or some other life-changing cultural event. Like watching The Sopranos. Check out the Mike Judge style cover art which shows the Kings of this particular hill getting ready to play a 25th anniversary show at Debaser, Stockholm this Midsummer. The set includes one brand new cut, Aint No King of RnR Tonight, the rare Dom Galna Hundarna belter Skolsången and killer liner notes by Jan Gradvall. So heres to the best of the first 25 years and also to the next. Heres a combo thats at the very top of its game and showing no signs of fading. Raise a glass and toast their ability to raise a real boss racket whilst blasting their music as loud as your asbo (that's anti-social behaviour order for non-British citizens) will allow. Heres the tracklist

1. (Im) Out of It

”Sonically Speaking”, the long out of print ’91 album, finally gets re-released by Universal Music on iTunes, CDON and other download merchants on May 17. The original 11 tracks and outtake bonus tracks “Showing Pictures to the Blind” and “I’m Branded” have all been re-mastered for this and, believe me, they’re louder than ever!

Welcome to visit our place at MySpace: myspace.com/the_nomads

060414:

Greetings.
Today's good friday and as some of you might know that means that it's 25 years since the first Nomads gig, good friday 1981 at Café Apromus in Solna, Sweden. We've decided not to make such a big deal of this anniversary, the 20th five years ago was so magnificent and so overwhelming that we don't even want to try to top that. We're not going to ignore it though - we figure that a good time to celebrate would be this year's GEARFEST! Bonnier Amigo, who owns a large chunk of our back catalogue, wants to put out a "best of" compilation CD and the aim right now is to try to have that out by the time of Gearfest (june 24 at Debaser, Stockholm) and have a combined release party/birthday party together with our old friends PROBLEM (first time we shared a stage was November 27, 1982), slightly newer friends MAGGOTS, and whoever else the Gearfest folks book this evening. The tracks for the comp (no title decided yet, maybe NOMADIC DEMENTIA or THAT'S COOL, THAT'S TRASH...mail your suggestions to
nomads@chello.se) will be hand picked by Lindsay Hutton of Scotland's NEXT BIG THING and will even include a brand NEW recording...wow! Hopefully we'll also be able to do some select "25th anniversary tour" dates this autumn at venues around Scandinavia and the rest of Europe that we feel are worthy of our presence...hope  to see you!
Happy easter,
Nick

011129:

There's a bootleg (vinyl LP, no CD) of our 20th anniversary
show at Hultsfred Festival in June floating around record fairs
in Europe and the US and on eBay. It's a pretty shoddy looking affair,
with a straight rip-off of "Where the Wolf Bane Blooms" as front cover,
and very little info on the back.
The recording's taken from Swedish ZTV's broadcast of the show
which means that the sound quality is quite good,
but not at all as good as the Swedish National Radio recording,
which was mixed with Chips K present.
The latter recording will probably be officially released by
White Jazz Records in 2002, so our advice for anyone interested would
be to wait for that instead of paying overprices for the bootleg!

The band is taking a well-deserved summer break now after a mind-bogglingly hectic spring and early summer. It's been a pretty amazing time though: the "Up-tight" album and the "Showdown!" reissue has been receiving overwhelming reviews, most of the shows we've done have been really great - thanks in particular to everybody who came out for the gigs with the Turpentines in Germany/Swizerland/Netherlands, we never expected that tour to turn out so great! - and, finally, the 20th anniversary celebrations in Stockholm and Hultsfred that were so fantastic that it's almost difficult to believe they actually happened. Many thanks to everybody who attended those crazy parties and especially to those who helped us on stage: (in Stockholm) Sator, Robert Johnson & Punchdrunks, Flaming Sideburns, Mats Gustafsson and Thomas & Johnny of bob hund. (In Hultsfred) Handsome Dick Manitoba and Ross the Boss of the Dictators, Wayne Kramer, Jello Biafra, Chris Bailey of the Saints, Nicke Hellacopter, Chips K of Sator and Odd Ahlgren of the Robots. Check out the 20th anniversary section for photos, setlists, a report from the Stockholm party by Lindsay Hutton of The Next Big Thing and "The memoirs of a Nomads fan" by our old pal and Oslo garage rock guru Willy B. That's all for now...we'll be back in august with some festival shows in Sweden and Norway. Plans for the autumn include a short US west coast tour with the Fleshtones and the "Demons", a UK tour, a trip to Greece and more Scandinavian gigs...see ya!

Here's what Mike LaVella says on the inner sleeve:
"For one great day, June 20th, 1998 to be exact, all the stars, planets and whatever other space junk
is floating around in our atmosphere all lined up perfectly...and it was called Gearfest.
The place was Tantogården in Stockholm Sweden, and the event was a big party celebrating the
ongoing transcontinental lovefest between the Scandinavian rock and roll scene and Gearhead
Magazine. The American muscle cars rolled in, the cold Swedish beer flowed freely, and the bands
rocked like it was the last day on Earth! Thank those lucky stars someone had the sense to tape it..."

000910:
After a lengthy summer break the band finally got started again friday night with a cool rockin' show at the Evil Cave in Norrköping. Looks like there won't be much live action this autumn - we've decided to spend the rest of the year working on new material. Good friday (april 13) 2001 is the day of the Nomads' 20th anniversary and the goal is to have a new album out by then. Chips will once more be handling the production duties and White Jazz Records (Europe) will put it out. White Jazz also plans to re-release the "Showdown!" 2CD comp before the end of this year with a new cover design and updated liner notes.

On february 14 White Jazz releases a new single (7" vinyl and CD) containing a brand new mix of "The King of Night Train" (from the "Big Sound 2000" album). This remix was done by Daniel Rey in New York City and has newly added backing vocals by none other than Joey Ramone and Handsome Dick Manitoba! The flip has a sizzling version of live favorite "Top Alcohol", recorded by Ron Sanchez in Bozeman, Montana when we passed by there on our US tour in may last year.
Other new Nomads singles out there: Kike Turmix' Safety Pin Records in Madrid (
safetypin@arrakis.es) has a 7" out with "I'm Gone" (BS2000 outtake) coupled with "Ain't Yet Dead"...Screaming Apple out of Köln, Germany (ScreamApp@aol.com) has another 7" with a blazing version of the Customs' "She'll Always Be Mine" (another BS2000 outtake) and two furious live tracks ("I'm Out of It"/"I've seen Better") on the b-side...finally, Bang! Records in the Basque Country (bang@clientes.euskaltel.es) has had the good taste to release a split 45 with the Nomads and our best friends Robert Johnson and Punchdrunks both doing instrumentals - Nomads' contribution is "Trucker speed" (yet another BS2000 outtake) and the Punchdrunks completely destroy the Ventures' old "2000 lb Bee". Get 'em while they last (which won't be long)!!

990610:
It's now a fact that we're gonna play at the Roskilde festival. The orange stage at 19.00 on friday July the 02. Don't miss this, there's a chance we'll have some great guest appearances.
